30 Days of Marvel: Day 29

Day #29: Your favorite series you would suggest to read

I’m a fan of series that focus on younger characters, because 1) they’re easier to get into than the huge amounts of canon on longer running teams, and 2) they tend to be a lot more diverse and sensitive to social issues. So, I’d recommend Young Avengers, Avengers Academy, and Academy X/New X-Men. Avengers Academy is probably my favorite, which I think is blasphemy because I know everyone worships at the altar of YA. And I love YA! But I like Academy more. The teens feel complex and genuine, their problems very real and their personalities very in character for their age, and the series isn’t shy about addressing the very real traumas that are part of their lives.

I don’t have a strong preference. Asgardians, maybe? But I also appreciate the Kree because they are the reason we have Ms. Marvel, and I adore her to bits.
