So Magic Mike is actually... a good movie?!

I went to see it today fully expecting to basically be paying $10 for the privilege of seeing Matt Bomer’s ass. BUT IT’S ACTUALLY A GOOD FILM. Waaaaaaay better than the trailers made it look. It’s funny and dark and sort of sad at times and surprisingly well-acted and well-written. The characters felt very real, and while it had plenty of lulzy stripping scenes it also had lovely moments of subtlety. I am pleased I went.
